Following requests from AHEd as well as individual home educators, we have received the following responses directly from the Local Authorities reagrding their response to the 2007 DfES consultation on home education guidelines.

 

It appears that some LA staff have sought to keep their responses confidential by calling them personal responses, despite in some instances using LA e-mail and snail mail contact details.

 

It has also come to light that some LAs met with consultants employed by DfES prior to the public consultation and therefore either felt no need to respond at the time of the public consultation, or they submitted comments they had formulated at their earlier meeting.

 

NB: WE NOW ALSO HAVE 14 PDF FILES FROM THE DCSF, RECEIVED BY A HOME EDUCATOR, CONTAINING THE 91 RESPONSES WHERE "LOCAL AUTHORITY" WAS TICKED AS THE RESPONSE CATEGORY. Of course many of those are duplicates of those below, but some are not. Some LAs told us they did not respond, yet the DCSF have sent a copy of their response.
