Light Touch Consultation - Contribute.

contribute arguments for light touch consultation response: Key Issues

Hands up!

Contribute to Dawniy's Hands up 4 Home-ed campaign - A voice for the children: here.

Stop Saying That!

Discuss whether it is practical or simply too late to push for the new Ed and Skills Act to remove all mention of "compulsory school age" and replace it with "compulsory education age."

Is it worth every AHEd member writing to their MP asking them to raise this issue? See Clare's pledge at pledge bank: here.

Public Relations - One.

Write at least once every 6 weeks to a national or local media outlet promoting home based education.

Public Relations - Two.

get Bounty magazine to include info about home based education in the pack that is given to every new mother (in England) How do we do this? Should we create leaflets for inclusion?

A: 21-02-7 I've looked at the Bounty Business pages - http://www.bountybusiness.co.uk - and although I didn't email and ask, it would appear that the cost of a leaflet inset would be *huge*. (3.4 million packs will be delivered in 2007!)

B: Ouch! who thought of that daft leaflet idea!!?

A: Bounty do, however, have a link up with the Pre-school Learning Alliance http://www.bounty.com/footsteps/ which would probably be the part of the operation to target, at least to get an address/basic info included,

B: sounds a better idea.

Eternal Vigilance!

Respond asap to media articles that can be exploited to further AHEd's aims.

Is it worth putting target dates against these items?

to make a url a link put these kind of brackets around it
[] That will make a link but you also have to put |link before the last bracket or it will be invisible I think. (or 'here' or 'I read it in a book') So you would get [www.hereismylink.thingy.majig|click my link] and it would come up as a clickable 'click my link' which is a link to the addy in brackets. That is as clear as mud, yes?

Annie said re info with Bounty:
"Rather than having the one book/magazine that I got over 12 years ago (the ghastly "Emma's diary", if anyone remembers it) they have a selection of targeted magazines from pregnancy to age 1 - the toddler one has a list of organisations in the back of it, but none of them are really related to education at all. The toddler one is the only one that's ABC-ed, and according to them it's produced in-house, so will be quite fiendishly on-(corporate)message, I should think."

And re contacting about info, "although EO may already have done this. I will check it out later and edit here when I've found anything interesting :-) PS later - all the material seems to be from the Pre-School Learning Alliance, I hope they'll send me the magazine soon so I can find out more (no PDF on the website, pah!). So maybe it'll be them that we need to talk to. Anyone got any connections/experience of them? Are they as pro-school as they are pre-school? No mention of HE on their website links page at http://www.pre-school.org.uk/links/"

(Removed comments from wiki page to keep it snappy on there and task directed and put further discussion on the comments page.)
